ST-Contact Lens

Structured for postgraduate residents building their core surgical foundation, ST-Contact Lens takes a deliberately practical approach to National — every session pairs a short theory briefing with immediate wet-lab or live-case practice. Every module pairs a focused theory briefing with hands-on practice the same day, and trainees review their own recorded cases with faculty to close the loop between what they were taught and what they actually did. By the end of the programme, trainees leave with a documented case log, a realistic sense of their own skill level against an international benchmark, and the confidence to take on independent cases responsibly. A short written and practical assessment closes out the programme, giving both the trainee and referring institution a documented, comparable record of the skills actually demonstrated.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants are expected to attend the full duration of the course — partial attendance batches are not offered for this programme.
  • A valid medical registration in ophthalmology (or the relevant allied field) is required before enrollment.
  • Seats are limited per batch to keep the trainer-to-trainee ratio low enough for genuine 1:1 supervision.

Description

  • This programme is run at multiple centres (see Course Location below), with the same curriculum and assessment standard applied at every site.
  • Susrut Eye Foundation & Research Centre has been conducting structured surgical training since 2010, with a specific focus on measurable, repeatable outcomes rather than one-off workshops.
  • Every batch is assessed against the ICO-OSCAR international scoring standard, so a trainee's progress is comparable across cohorts, not just self-reported.
