ST-Phaco Enhancement - Alcon

ST-Phaco Enhancement - Alcon is one of Susrut's flagship Industry programmes, built around the same 1:1 supervised operating-room model that has trained thousands of ophthalmic professionals since 2010. Class sizes are kept small enough that every participant gets real console time, not just a seat in the gallery — feedback is given case-by-case, immediately after each session, while the details are still fresh. This training is part of Susrut's broader mission: reducing avoidable blindness by making sure every ophthalmologist who completes a Susrut programme is genuinely, not just nominally, competent in Industry. Trainees also get access to a growing video library of graded cases from previous batches, useful for revisiting technique variations and complications outside of scheduled session hours.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Seats are limited per batch to keep the trainer-to-trainee ratio low enough for genuine 1:1 supervision.
  • Candidates from other countries are also eligible, subject to fulfilling the procedural formalities of the Medical Council of India.
  • Prior exposure to basic diagnostic instrumentation is expected, though prior surgical experience is not a prerequisite for entry-level batches.

Description

  • Faculty-to-trainee ratios are kept deliberately low throughout this programme so feedback stays specific and immediate rather than generic.
  • This programme is run at multiple centres (see Course Location below), with the same curriculum and assessment standard applied at every site.
  • The SUSRUT training system has produced more than a thousand trained ophthalmologists across India and abroad, many of whom now train others using the same structured method.
